How Canada ‘covered’ the Olympic opener
The 2010 Olympics in Vancouver are finally underway. And aside from a minor glitch with the torch and an unfortunate accident during a luge practice run, the opening ceremonies showed a promising glimpse of the events to come.
As a Canadian citizen myself, I anxiously waited to see how our big dailies would design their front pages considering it’s been 21 years since we last hosted the games.
The hype surrounding the opening ceremonies was huge, and so were the front page images. Many of Canada’s major newspapers opted for poster fronts (or close to). Here’s a roundup of some my favourites:
